"Lord, in the memory of all the saints who from their labors rest, and in the joy of a new beginning, we ask you to help us work for that day when black will not be asked to get back, when brown can stick around, when yellow will be mellow, when the red man can get ahead, man, and when white will embrace what is right." - Rev. Joseph Lowery (from President Obama's Inaugural Benediction)
WTF???!?!?!?!? I mean what's with all the color? How in the hell am I supposed to continue teaching my children and instilling in them that we are all equal, that the color of a person's skin is no bigger a deal than their hair or eye color, when this is what they have to grow up on? We are all created equal. MLK's dream came true. The only one bringing the black man down, is the black man. Granted, I do empathize with the minorities. They have faced a great deal, but the days of throwing out the race card were over long ago. WE ARE ALL CREATED EQUAL.
If this is an example of things to come, I am fearful for my children. Martin Luther King Jr. dreamed of a world where people weren't judged by the color of their skin, yet everyday the African-Americans insist on reminding everyone that their skin is a different color. Obama may do great things for this country, who knows? Color is not a factor in my judgement of anybody, and I don't want it to be a factor for my children. This "prayer" was inappropriate to say the least. No history was made, in the past 4 decades only 6 other African-Americans sought their party's nomination. Only 6. Show some initiative, man, some perseverance. So we have another president. We've had 43 others. Over the past few decades the African-Americans have been equalized. The world will be a better place when they see it too. Nobody has been holding them back, if anything they have been given a push forward. I just wish they could see as I see and how my children will hopefully one day see, that the color of a person's skin means nothing.
So I apologize if I have offended anyone with my racial indifference, I just do not feel the history being made. Would such a big deal be made if Hillary took office? Man, woman, caucasian or other, I thought we were all equal so what's the big deal. It is a big deal for people who continue to make a race issue out of a non-issue. As long as they separate themselves from us, we will never be equal. Of course there are still groups that will hate, but it has no basis. Race, religion, heritage, sexual preference, hair style, weight, appearance, there will always be these people. But when you have been given every right and every civil liberty, yet you choose to keep yourself separated, you aren't making things better. Just know that I have a dream that my children will one day grow up and see people as people, not a race or religion. That they will continue to see a colored man as just a man.

Ok, I read it. It was very good and you have a lot of good points. You need to post it where a larger population of people will read it!
That comment was from me, Jess :)
